Green Turtle MP Soap Tutorial – Soap the Rainbow. I was invited to participate in the Soap the Rainbow challenge by Bramble Berry, click HERE for details. I could produce any soap design in one main color and was given the color green. Who could resist? I ended up creating two soaps, one CP and one MP.
Green Turtle MP Soap Tutorial – Soap the Rainbow
Time: 1 hour
Yields: 3 – 4 oz of soaps
Recipe type: Melt and Pour Soap
6 oz Clear MP soap base
6 oz White MP soap base
1/2 oz Clover and Aloe fragrance oil
1 tsp Kelly green mica
1 tsp Kermit green mica
1 tsp Evergreen mica
Turtle mold – 3 cavity
Small plastic cups
Safety: Follow proper safety guidelines for making melt and pour soap. Kids and pets should not be underfoot when handling hot fluids.
Step 1: Place 1/8 tsp of each of the green micas in their own plastic cup. Microwave clear soap base in a glass microwave container in 30 second intervals until melted. Add 1 tbsp of melted soap base to each cup and blend.
Step 2: Using a dropper, drip a few drops of the Kermit mica colored soap into each of the cavities of the shell in the mold. Spritz soap surface with alcohol.
Repeat the process for the other two green colors. Try to place the drops randomly. Spritz soap surface with alcohol.
Step 3: Drizzleremaining green soapfrom each cup into the mold on top of the drops of soap.
Step 4: Remelt clear soap base in 30 second intervals in microwave if needed. Add 1 and 1/4 tsp of evergreen mica to the remaining clear soap and blend. Spritz soap surface with alcohol. Slowly pour evergreen soap over previous layer filling the turtle shells. Allow to cool.
Step 5:Meltwhite soap base in 30 second intervals in microwave until melted completely. Add 1 tsp of Kermit mica to the soap and blend. Once soap is no longer steaming, add fragrance. Spritz soap surface with alcohol. Slowly pour Kermit soap over previous layer filling the mold. Allow to cool and solidify.
Unmold and the soap is ready for use.
