We originally posted this recipe here in 2010. It has become our most popular recipe on this blog. I thought I would share it again for those looking for a good recipe.
Lemon Poppy Seed Soap – 5lbs
By weight unless otherwise stated
24 oz Avocado oil
8 oz Coconut oil 76°
5 oz Palm oil
12 oz Sunflower oil
12 oz Sweet Almond oil
19oz Distilled water, by volume
8.25 oz Sodium hydroxide
2.5 oz Lemon fragrance or essential oil
Yellow colorant (optional)
½ cup Poppy seeds, by volume
Follow cold-process soap safety. Mix the lye water solution and set aside. Mix oils and heat to 100-120 degrees F. Add lye solution to oils and mix with stick blender. As mixture thickens, add seeds, colorant and scent at trace. Pour into mold and allow to set and cure.
